Born in territorial New Mexico, Conrad Hilton rose from modest beginnings to become one of the defining entrepreneurs of modern hospitality. His life reflected conviction, discipline, optimism, and a belief that enterprise can create enduring value.
After World War I, Hilton traveled to Texas intending to buy a bank, but instead purchased a hotel in Cisco in 1919. That decision became the starting point of a global hospitality legacy that would carry the Hilton name around the world.
In 1925, the first hotel formally bearing the Hilton name opened in Dallas. Over time, Conrad Hilton became known not only for business achievement, but also for his commitment to service, goodwill, and international understanding. In 1944, he established the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, extending his belief that success should ultimately support others and relieve suffering.
